Best time to go
May–June and September–October. Summer can be hot and fire-prone.

From Willows, CA on FH7 (Forest Highway 7).
Know before you go
- Adventure Pass not required, dispersed is free.
- Fire restrictions are routine; check the MNF site.
- Cell service is essentially zero.
- Roads narrow and winding — not ideal for very big rigs.

- Plaskett Meadows for an established site at altitude.
- Pack out everything — visitor pressure is increasing.
- Bring physical maps; nav apps are unreliable here.
