Connect an AI assistant to BoondockFinder

Link ChatGPT, Claude, or another AI assistant to this app so it can search boondocking spots and help manage your favorites and trips. You sign in with your BoondockFinder account during setup, and the assistant only acts as you.

Connect

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT settings → Connectors → Advanced and turn on Developer mode. Read the risk notice ChatGPT shows there. If the toggle isn't available, ask your ChatGPT admin to enable it.
  2. Open the new connector dialog.
  3. Enter BoondockFinder as the name and paste the connection URL above into the URL field.
  4. Review the details, check "I understand and want to continue" (ChatGPT shows this for every custom connector), then click Create.
  5. Enable BoondockFinder from the chat composer, then ask ChatGPT to use it.

Claude

  1. Open the Claude custom connector dialog — the name and URL are prefilled.
  2. Review the details and click Add.
  3. If the prefilled form doesn't open, go to Claude → Settings → Connectors → "Add custom connector", name it BoondockFinder, and paste the connection URL above.
  4. Enable the connector from the chat composer, then ask Claude to use it.

Claude Code

  1. Run this in a terminal:
    claude mcp add --scope user --transport http boondockfinder 'https://boondockfinder.com/mcp'
  2. Start Claude Code and run /mcp to confirm BoondockFinder is connected. Sign in from that menu when prompted.
  3. Ask Claude Code to use BoondockFinder.

Other AI assistants

  1. Open the assistant's MCP server or custom connector settings.
  2. Create a new remote server connection.
  3. Name it BoondockFinder and paste the connection URL above.
  4. Finish any sign-in or authorization prompts.
  5. Enable the connection, then ask the assistant to use BoondockFinder.

Refresh after the app changes

Assistants remember what BoondockFinder could do when you first connected. After we ship updates, refresh the connection to pick up the latest.

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT's Plugins page and select BoondockFinder.
  2. Scroll to "Information" and click Refresh.
  3. ChatGPT can't change an existing connector's URL — if the URL above changed, delete the connector and add it again using the connect steps.
  4. Start a new chat and ask ChatGPT to use BoondockFinder.

Claude

  1. Open the Connectors page and select BoondockFinder.
  2. Refresh or update the connector's tools.
  3. Claude can't change an existing connector's URL — if it changed, remove the connector and add it again using the connect steps.
  4. Ask Claude to use BoondockFinder.

Claude Code

  1. Start a new Claude Code session — it loads the latest on connect.
  2. If the URL changed, run claude mcp remove boondockfinder, then run the install command again.
  3. Ask Claude Code to use BoondockFinder.

Other AI assistants

  1. Open the assistant's MCP server or connector settings.
  2. Select the connection you created for BoondockFinder.
  3. Refresh the tool list, reload the server, or reconnect it.
  4. If the URL changed, paste the latest one from above.
  5. Start a new chat or session and ask the assistant to use BoondockFinder.
