- Hungry Horse Reservoir roads have dozens of free sites with lake or creek access.
- Polebridge (north fork) is rustic and gorgeous — the bakery is famous.
- West Glacier is the convenient resupply town; Whitefish has better groceries.
- Lake McDonald shuttle is the cheat code for avoiding parking nightmares inside the park.
