Getting there
US-285 to US-24 in BV. Cottonwood Pass Road (CR 306) west of town is the main dispersed corridor.

- 14-day stay limit on national forest.
- Fire restrictions are common all summer — check the SIPNF site.
- Higher elevations get afternoon thunderstorms daily — be off summits by noon.
- Pack bear-resistant food storage; black bears are active.

- Chalk Creek Canyon (Mt. Princeton area) has lots of dispersed spots and free natural hot springs.
- Cottonwood Lake and Pass have the most scenic high-elevation sites.
